‘The attached photo was taken around 1912 probably at the Rutherglen Burgh School.  My father, James Wilson Hamilton, is 3rd from the left in the second row from the front.  I am fairly sure that he attended Stonelaw School and was Dux in 1915. Certainly the name ‘James W. Hamilton’ appears on the Dux Honours Board for that year.  He and the family emigrated to New Zealand about 1915 settling in Geraldine, South Canterbury in the South Island.  His father (my grandfather), William John Hamilton, was a spindlemaker.  His mother was Mary Wilson.  The family lived at various addresses in Rutherglen for many years before leaving for NZ.’
