It was good to have a nostalgic trip reading the postings on your web site. I was also in the final first year of the Academy. I remember Preggy Pete and Miss Kerr. I used to see Sir James at Safeways (wont get used to calling it Somerfields). I too was part of the assembled masses in the playground at Gallowflat Street when we were all threatened by Mr Thompson for not lining up in the right place, I think he was the last Tory in Motherwell. Does anybody else remember going to Fir Park to cheer on the footy team."RA RA Rutherglen Academy"? I recall Andy Park shouting out the register."Pert, Pielo, Proudfoot, Robertson".happy days. It was a treat finding the web site, especially seeing the photo of class of 1964. I am 3.21 and still have this original photo. I left Scotland in 1974, spent 13 years in Brazil, 8 in the USA, 2 years back in the UK in Leicester and now returned to the US. Many of the teacher names, mentioned in other e-mails, I certainly recognize (Seggy especially). I have kept up reasonably well with Rutherglen as I visited at least once a year until 2003, but have completely lost touch with school friends, except one who is also in the photo. 2 February 2007 - Peoria, Illinois, USA

I was at RA from 61 to 64 (I think) left to move across the border. Just wandered into site and there I am in 1963 / 64 picture 3rd row 3rd from left. The only other person I recognise, that Callum has not already identified is Jimmy Kennedy second row far right. I think I still have an original.
