How is it Carmunnockians always seem to end up in 1F? I moved (or should I say -I was moved to Carmunnock in 1968) and ended up in 1F in 1969.
The move to Carmunnock had many more negatives than positives. I was perfectly happy where I was thank you very much and had lots of friends and looked forward to being with them all at King's Park Secondary. Whereas I thought Carmunnock Primary was pure crap and not a patch on Mount Florida, which, to my mind, was STREETS ahead educationally. I was learning Latin, French and good English grammar there.
Compared to MF, Carmunnock Primary was, in my view, the absolute pits. Moreover, I didn't care much for its somewhat elderly head teacher, Nettie, who struck me as not being up to the job.
Thus altogether in retrospect I am very resentful of my parents for making that move.

To Stuart... The cross cafe is still alive, although Miguel has retired - as has Davie. Miguel's son now runs the place.

Our Latin teacher was Mr. (Bertie) Craig. He married the School Secretary just before retiring. Also - I was in Billy McWilliam's calls at RA - how is he??
