The 3/4 pants I’m wearing were great favourites of mine, and on holiday in Skye I was dismayed when the backside got ripped out of them as I jumped off a huge tree stump outside an aunt’s house. I think they caught on a nail! I’d saved up from a holiday job to buy them myself, but my mother always hated them, thinking them most ‘unladylike’. However, in those days I was a bit of a tomboy and loathed being made to wear dresses when I was happier in T-shirt and shorts. You’ll gather my mother and I didn’t always see eye to eye!

Gawn yersel  Màiri. In common with their owner, those pants are the epitome of 1960s chic - and then some. Wow! Click pic for larger view.

I’m not looking too chuffed in this picture because, that day, mum insisted on me wearing my school blazer. However, you can just about make out the Rutherglen Academy  badge on the breast pocket.
