‘A Description of My Neighbour’
During an English lesson on Monday 15th September Mrs Innes set each member of 1F the task of describing, in prose, the person sitting adjacent - in my case James (Jim) Smith, otherwise known as ‘Jeeves’ (though I can’t recall why). Jim was also noted for wearing a beige duffel coat, and you can see the back of him in one of JR’s pictures featured elsewhere on this site.
Another incident I remember well involving Jim occurred when he and I were assigned to the same bench in one of Mr Forsyth’s woodwork classes down at McDonald. It was dovetailed joints that day and, after chiselling his right onto the floor, Jim frantically attempted to stick it back on to the main piece of wood with ‘spit’, (before Mr F came along and walloped his arse with a T-square for not handling the tool as we’d been shown earlier). Poor Jim.
I wonder what he wrote about me...?
