Autumn 2002
A northeast view from the row of shops in Stonelaw Road.
At the corner of Stonelaw Road and Melrose Avenue leading into the front playground. As far as I can remember only girls were meant to use this gate.
Again from the shops across Stonelaw Road. Notice the new block of flats on the right where the half-timbered science annexe used to be. It was sometimes interesting to walk round behind there.
Looking southwest-ish along Melrose Avenue.
A parallel picture to that featuring David Smith. The manhole covers are still there, but the large block of tenements at the corner of Greenhill Road has been replaced by The South Lanarkshire Housing Department Offices.

In Melrose Avenue. The way boys were meant to enter and leave the old building. In those days there seemed to be more emphasis on keeping the sexes apart, thought it seldom worked out in practice.
