This web site came about in autumn 2002 after Jim Robin made a rare foray into his loft.
He didn’t find what he was looking for, but instead came across a collection of black and white photographs taken in 1969 when ‘wee Jim’ was an eleven-year-old first year pupil at RA. Subsequently a trip to my own loft revealed some old jotters from the same period.
However, we are deeply conscious that our effort is only a very narrow view of Rutherglen Academy. Other submissions are keenly sought to help enhance the site and make it more representative of the thousands of pupils who attended the school between 1925 and 1970.
So, if you have any photographic or other material (which could include graphics, memories, or any other information anecdotal or factual) we’d be delighted to put it up here for sharing with everyone else. And, of course, nowadays this doesn’t mean parting with treasured memorabilia or valuable personal artifacts. Most flat objects can be scanned into a computer and sent electronically anywhere in the world, while the owner always retains the ‘originals’.
You can send submissions to the e-mail address below.
Your contribution(s) will be acknowledged promptly within 24 hours.
Many thanks for your help. And for your visit.
